American Public Television
For more than two decades, American Public Television,
located in Boston, Massachusetts, has been a major program supplier for
the nation's public television stations. American Public Television both
acquires finished programs and develops/produces original programming
concepts, which are distributed to public television stations nationwide.
The hallmark of each program offered by American Public Television has
been - and always will be - its quality and ability to meet local station
programming needs.
Public television offers an attractive broadcast platform, with opportunities
for multiple airings and increased exposure for programming, which, in
turn, maximizes related merchandise sales. American Public Television
can provide producers with access to this desirable venue.
While American Public Television seeks the highest possible carriage for
its programs, it recognizes that many programs appeal to important, but
less-than-national audience groupings, and undertakes the distribution
of programming that is tailored to specific interests or demographics.
Clearance of all American Public Television programs is, therefore, based
on local station interest; some programs are carried by the majority of
stations, others, by a smaller number.
The American Public Television program staff searches for quality programming
from overseas and domestic markets, including commercial syndication services,
foreign public and commercial broadcasters, film studios, record labels,
cable networks, independent producers, and the public television stations
themselves.
